Another Debut Winner for Blue Point

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday April 19

Predictions that Darley shuttler Blue Point (IRE) would get smart precocious juveniles looks to be on the money, certainly in the Northern Hemisphere where he sired his third winner from five runners overnight with a debut victory at Newmarket for Blue Storm.

Trained by James Tate, Blue Storm was strong to the line beating the rave favourite Cuban Thunder by more than a length in the dive furlong juvenile novice.

“He is our first two year old winner of the year and to do it at Newmarket is a bit special. We always thought he was an early type,” said James Tate.

Purchased by Rabbah Bloodstock for 75,000 pounds at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale and is a half-brother to stakes-placed Silver Surfer being the third winner from speedy stakes-winning Kodiac mare Riskit Fora Biskit.

A champion sprinter by Shamardal, Blue Point returns to Darley Victoria this spring at a fee of $44,000 for his fourth season having covered 380 mares here in his previous three.
