Rich Hill 2023 service fees - Proisir Tops Roster

Media Release - Tuesday April 18

Two of Australasia’s most anticipated stallion service fees have been announced with 2023 prices locked in for Champion Sire in waiting Proisir and his high-profile barn mate Satono Aladdin along with associate sires Ace High, Shocking and Vadamos.

Proisir will stand at $70,000 plus GST

It has been an outstanding 2022/23 for the Rich Hill roster as Proisir, Satono Aladdin, Shocking and Vadamos have between them sired 10 individual Group 1 winners of fourteen elite level races on the major racetracks of Australasia.

Headline act Proisir currently has an unassailable lead on the New Zealand Sires’ Premiership with a $1.3 million dollar buffer over eight-time champion sire Savabeel.

Proisir’s 2023 fee has been set at $70,000 + GST while Satono Aladdin will stand at $45,000 + GST.

With five individual Group 1 winners this season having won eight Group 1 races between them, Proisir is also the leading producer of top-flight winners in Australasia.

His leading success stories include class race mares and multiple Group 1 winners Levante, Legarto and Prowess, plus New Zealand 2000 Guineas hero Pier and Tarzino Trophy winner Dark Destroyer.

Proisir’s commercial status soared to new levels at Karaka earlier this year when all 19 of his Book 1 yearlings sold at an average of $189,000.

“Proisir is a champion sire in waiting who has proven himself to be a massive upgrader. We will be limiting him to 150 mares and with numerous mares already confirmed from both sides of the Tasman all indications are that his book will fill very quickly,” Rich Hill Managing Director John Thompson said.

Satono Aladdin will stand at a fee of $45,000 plus GST

Japanese Group 1 winner Satono Aladdin has also enjoyed a breakout season and now leads both the New Zealand second season sires and two-year-old premierships by wide margins.

The beautifully bred son of the phenomenal Deep Impact has sired the unbeaten two-year-old Tokyo Tycoon and the dual Oaks’ winner Pennyweka, who stamped herself as a superior stayer with exceptional wins in the G1 NZ Oaks and G1 Australian Oaks.

With his oldest crop just three-year-olds, Satono Aladdin has also sired stakes horses Grand Impact, Sacred Satono and Japanese Emperor.

“Satono Aladdin is quickly proving to be one of the most exciting young sire prospects we have had in New Zealand in recent years,” Thompson said.

“He stamps his stock with his own quality and athleticism and with the unique ability to sire a precocious two-year-old as well as a classic three-year-old.

“Rich Hill are delighted that our long and successful relationship with Shadai Stallion Station and the Yoshida family enables us to shuttle a stallion with his sire credentials.”

Rich Hill’s other stallions have also been major contributors to the farm’s success during the 2022/23 season.

Shocking has once again demonstrated his ability to sire horses that can compete at the highest level with I’m Thunderstruck, Defibrillate, Self Obsession and Hezashocka adding to another successful season for the son of Street Cry.

“For anyone looking for a proven Group 1 sire for their mare, Shocking offers exceptional international value and he gives all breeders an opportunity to produce a top-class racehorse,” Thompson said.

Shocking

Shocking will again stand at $12,500 + GST in 2023.

Vadamos is another young sire on the up, his first crop flag bearer La Crique brilliantly won the G1 Arrowfield Plate earlier this season. He has a number of promising horses in leading Australasian stables with his profile set to continue to grow as these horses mature.

“Vadamos is an exceptional physical type and he passes on his magnificent looks to his progeny,” Thompson said.

“The Monsun sire line is renowned for producing tough sound racehorses that improve over time, we believe Vadamos’ career will go from strength to strength over the next few years.”

Vadamos

Vadamos will be offered at $12,500 + GST in 2023.

Rich Hill’s Ace High, a dual Group 1-winning son of High Chaparral, looks poised to make a big impression next season with his three-year-olds.

A number of his first crop juveniles are in work and impressing at the trials with expectations high that some promising runners will step out over the next few months.

“The High Chaparral sire line continues to flourish in Australasia and judging from the trainer feedback we are receiving on his first-crop, Ace High looks set to continue this legacy,” Thompson said.

Ace High

Ace High will stand at $10,000 + GST in 2023.
