New SW for Better Than Ready – The Vowels Keeps Up Winning Run

Tara Madgwick - Saturday April 15

Arguably the most progressive three year-old in Queensland, talented Better Thean Ready gelding The Vowels made it five wins on the trot when stepping up to Black Type company to down stakes-winning filly Wolverine in the $160,000 Listed BRC Daybreak Lover Stakes (1400m).

The Kris Lees trained Wolverine was sent out favourite after a last start third in the Group III ATC Carbine Club Stakes at The Championships, but she was outgunned to the line by The Vowels, who scored a long head win.

Trained by Toby and Trent Edmonds, The Vowels has made a steady progress through the grades racking up six wins from nine starts with prizemoney just shy of $300,000.

A $100,000 Magic Millions Book 2 purchase for On Fire Racing/Edmonds Racing/Kestrel Thoroughbreds from the Yarramalong Park draft, The Vowels is the first winner from Group III placed Mareeza, who sadly died last year.

Better Than Ready

The Vowels is the ninth stakes-winner for Lyndhurst Stud’s Better Than Ready and is his third this season.
