Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Friday April 14

Four heats for juveniles at Warwick Farm on Friday morning and heat winners for Russian Revolution, Deep Field and champion UK based sire Kingman.

Bjorn Baker supplied three of the heat winners and two of them are by Russian Revolution with unraced colt Oscar Charlie winning easily in the Newgate colours and he will be well primed for his race day debut.

Placed in two trials last preparation behind Red Resistance and Shinzo, he’s won both trials this time in and looks ready to fire.

Russian Revolution filly Line of Law was third and sixth in tough races last preparation, Max Lees Classic and then Inglis Nursery. She has won both of her trials this preparation so will head to the races with her confidence high.

Also for Bjorn Baker was the well bred Deep Field filly Field of Myrtle, who looked green at her second trial, but still won with ears pricked.

A $240,000 Magic Millions purchase from Segenhoe Stud for Bjorn Baker Racing/Clarke Bloodstock Pty Ltd, her owners include John Singleton (Strawberry Hill Stud) in whose colours she runs.

Field of Myrtle as a yearling.

Field of Myrtle is a half-sister to Group III winner Holyfield and stakes-placed Vamos Bebe plus two more winners being from Group I VRC Myer Classic winner Hurtle Myrtle.

Interesting Kingman colt trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, unraced King Colorado was having his fifth trial and third this preparation and is improving.

Not offered for sale, King Colorado runs for a syndicate that includes his breeder Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum and was foaled and raised at Segenhoe.

He is the first foal born in Australia for stakes-winning More Than Ready import More Aspen (USA), a half-sister to stakes-winner Jade Master and grand-daughter of Group I winner Northern Aspen, whose dam is legendary blue hen Fall Aspen.

Fall Aspen produced an astonishing nine stakes-winners including G1 winners Timber Country, Fort Wood, Hamas and previously mentioned Northern Aspen as well as G2 winner Bianconi (USA), who made Australia his home.

Another of Fall Aspen’s stakes-winning daughters Colorado Dancer is the dam of Dubai Millennium, sire of one of the world’s best current sires in Dubawi, so you can see why it’s going to be painful to have to geld King Colorado one day if his racetrack efforts don’t match up to the pedigree.
