All Aged Winners Step Up at Stud

Tara Madgwick - Friday April 14

The $1.5million Group I ATC All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on Saturday features an outstanding field of elite G1 winners with high class three year-old colt Jacquinot looking to add further lustre to his impressive record in a race that has already produced a couple of exciting young sires in recent years in Pierata and Trapeze Artist.

Trained by Gerald Ryan, Trapeze Artist won the All Aged Stakes in 2018 as a three year-old colt just two weeks after winning the Group I ATC TJ Smith Stakes and returned at four to run a game second in The Everest and win the Group I ATC Canterbury Stakes.

Retired to Widden Stud in 2019 at a fee of $88,000, Snitzel’s champion son Trapeze Artist covered 180 mares in his first season with his first two year-old runners showing great promise this season.

If his progeny are anything like their sire, we can expect to see a lot more from them next season and he already has five winners on the board and a multiple Group placed filly in Facile.

His progeny have sold well again at the yearling sales this year with his top sellers below bought by some of the best judges in the business including Godolphin, who bought one of his fillies at Inglis Easter.

He retired to Aquis in the spring of 2020 and the $5.8million earning son of Pierro was afforded a flying start to his stud career covering an outstanding first book of 169 mares at a fee of $44,000.

The first yearlings by Pierata have been warmly received at the sales this year with the first foal from Champion 3YO Filly and dual Group I winner Loving Gaby the obvious standout.
