Dundeel on the Move – 2YO Sires

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday April 12

2YO racing is an important facet of our racing and breeding industry and the $600,000 Group I ATC Champagne Stakes (1600m) on Saturday will have an impact on the Australian 2YO Sires List with some influential sires with key runners.

Click to see the fully interactive list.

Dundeel has three runners in the race headed by the favourite Militarize alongside promising Townsend and Tannhauser and the champion son of High Chaparral (IRE) has already had success in the race siring Castelvecchio to win in 2019.

Dundeel has a super crop of two year-olds that has already yielded seven winners of over $1million in prizemoney and that is no fluke given they are from his biggest ever foal crop and were conceived in the first year his fee jumped to $66,000.

What we are seeing from Dundeel now should be a precursor of a lot more to come as this crop reach maturity.

Extreme Choice also has two runners and sired the winner of this race last year in She’s Extreme.

We know he has small numbers, but let’s take a look at his 2YO stats this season, 28 foals, eight runners, two winners and both – Don Corleone and Make a Call - are stakes-placed and running in a G1.

That explains why he stands at a fee of $275,000.

Godolphin have two runners and both are impressive last start stakes-winners.

Amur will look to cement the place of Snitzel at the top of the 2YO sires list by earnings, while Tom Kitten will be looking to give first season sire Harry Angel (IRE) his first G1 winner.
