Lonhro Filly Dipsy Doodle Off The Mark

Mark Smith - Monday April 10

It was third time lucky for the striking Lonhro filly Dipsy Doodle in the Tab Maiden Plate (1100m) for two-year-old fillies at Warwick Farm on Monday.

Ridden by James McDonald for James Cummings, Dipsy Doodle shared the lead with Rubikins, who she dispatched before the home turn.

r looking in any danger, the near-black daughter of Lonhro defeated the Pride Of Dubai debutant Missouk by one and three-quarter lengths with the Exceed And Excel filly Oz Empress a short-head back in third.

The Deep Field filly Left Field made up many lengths to finish fourth.

The most experienced runner in the race, Dipsy Doodle debuted with a fourth behind stablemate Barber in the Kirkham Plate at Randwick last October.

She reappeared after 21 weeks off the scene .to finish third behind Kimoch and subsequent Group II Percy Sykes Stakes winner Kristilli on the Kensington track at Randwick on March 22.

Dipsy Doodle is a three-quarter sister to Group II ATC Surround Stakes winner Ghisoni (Lonhro) and a half to Group III VRC Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes winner Larkspur Run (Shamardal).

She is the second winner from three to race for the Exceed And Excel mare Aspen. A winner at Warwick Farm and Wyong, Aspen is a daughter of the Group II ATC Magic Night Stakes, Group II Surround Stakes, and Listed Gimcrack Stakes winner Portillo (Red Ransom).

Aspen has experienced a run of bad luck. Her 2020 Blue Point (IRE) colt died. Not covered in 2021, the daughter of Exceed And Excel visited the 4-time Group 1 winning son of Shamradal last spring.

Dipsy Doodle is the first 2yo winner of the season for Darley Stud’s champion Lonhro.
