Rubick's Shoresy Makes Perfect Start To His Career

Mark Smith - Friday March 31

The two-year-old Rubick gelding Shoresy kick-started his career with a hugely impressive win in Friday’s Rosemont Stud Maiden Plate (1000m) at Cranbourne.

Ridden by Daniel Stackhouse for Ben Brisbourne, Shorsey overcame a troubled run to come from last with a barnstorming finish.

In a race that changed complexion dramatically over the final 100m, Shoresy defeated Godolphin’s Street Boss (USA) colt Heuristic by a half-head, with the Harry Angel (IRE) filly Grinzinger Angel a length back in third.

Brisbourne revealed Shoresy was under offer from Hong Kong last week.

“He’s done a good job because he was on the float for four and a half hours,” Brisbourne said.

“He had a wide trip and showed a couple of nice gears inside the last 2000m.

“He is a thorough professional and is a nice horse going forward.

“There were offers for him from Hong Kong last week, which is why he didn’t debut at the Valley in a Listed race. But the money didn’t turn up, so I am more than happy to win races with him. He is perfect in the wind though the scope wasn’t perfect.

“He is a very sound, clean-winded horse.”

Shoresy a $55,000 Adelaide Magic Millions yearling)

A $55,000 purchase for Shaun Nolen from the Emirates Park Stud draft at the 2022 Adelaide Magic Millions, Shoresy is the second winner from as many to race for the Dream Ahead (USA) mare Azyaan.

A winner at Donald and placed three times from six starts, Azyaan is out of the Al Maher mare Zyoon, a half-sister to the champion sire Encosta de Lago.

Annabel Neasham Racing/Stiletto Sprinters went to $80,000 to secure Azyaan’s Dubious filly offered by Emirates Park at the Gold Coast in January.

After foaling a Bivouac colt in October, Azyaan was covered by Tassort.

Shoresy is the second 2yo winner of the season for Swettenham Stud’s Rubick.
