Progressive Western Australian Stud Geisel Park has secured the outstanding stallion prospect Aysar (Deep Field) for stud duties at their Myalup property from 2023.

A number of prominent WA breeders have joined in a partnership to secure the horse whilst previous part owners, Victorian based Leneva Park will support Aysar by sending mares West to give the horse immediate Eastern States exposure.

Geisel Park principal, Eddie Rigg, was quick to make the decision to secure Aysar the minute the horse was quoted by leading bloodstock agent John Chalmers, with whom the Stud has a close association.

“Aysar is the best credentialed sire prospect to cross my desk in the last 10 years or more. I feel most fortunate to have been able to secure a horse of his quality to stand in WA. He represents a rare opportunity on all fronts and will suit most mares in the State on both type and pedigree compatibility inbreeding to six of the great mares of all time”, explained John Chalmers.

Desperate to find a stallion free of Danehill the pair combined to bring proven stallion Manhattan Rain to stand from the 2022 season.

Aysar also offers an outcross and will undoubtedly suit the vast majority of Western Australian mares.

Aysar has a pedigree to behold and would rank as one of the best bred sires to enter stud in WA for many years.

Inbred to six of the great mares of all time Fanfreluche, Somethingroyal, Rough Shod and her granddaughter Special, Rolls and Natalma - Aysar’s future at stud seems almost guaranteed.

He joins only Cosmic Force and Portland Sky as sons of Deep Field at stud and offers opportunity to continue the dynasty created by his remarkably successful sire now at the completion of his stud career.

Aysar is a half-brother by Deep Field to Home Affairs (pictured), who was the busiest first season sire in Australia last year.

Aysar is a half brother to the highly regarded Coolmore Stud prospect Home Affairs (Fee $110,000) and his dam Miss Interiors (Flying Spur) is a half sister to the boom Newgate Farm sire Russian Revolution.

Aysar was originally purchased by world renown bloodstock agent Angus Gold at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale on behalf of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Shadwell Stud for $260,000.

Aysar has always been recognised as a superior type. As reported by Mick Sharkie, “Physically, Aysar is a great type. I think he’s always the pick of the yard – he’s a grouse sort.”

Aysar proved to be a first class racehorse winning at two years, Group 1 placed beaten less than half a length by Ole Kirk in the Gr.1 Caulfield Guineas and three times second in Group 3 races along with a win in six outings at three years.

He trained on to age five winning the Listed Chautauqua Stakes last Spring proving racetrack longevity which is a priority factor in selecting a sire in the eyes of Chalmers and Rigg.

Ben Hayes, former trainer of Aysar summed up the horse - “Aysar was blessed with natural speed. He won as a 2 year old, was a Gr.1 performer as an early 3 year old and trained on to win the Chautauqua Stakes as a 5 year old. Aysar was wonderfully sound and clean winded.”

In all, Aysar ran on 22 occasions, no less the 18 of his appearances in black type races (15 Group events) in addition to running in the Golden Eagle, winning a total of $706,095 in stakes.

The fee for Aysar will be announced in the near future and upon his arrival at Geisel Park at the end of April.
