Pride of Dubai Mare Wins G2 Sunline Stakes

Tara Madgwick - Friday March 24

Quality mare Sirileo Miss has soared to new heights this preparation and turned the $300,000 Group II MVRC Sunline Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on Friday night into a procession.

Ridden by Ben Melham for Symon Wilde, the daughter of Pride Of Dubai had to fdo some work early from a wide gate and travelled across to sit outside the leader.

She swept aside her rivals turning for home and opened up to win in impressive style for Ben Melham cruising clear to beat quality three year-old filly Revolutionary Miss by five and a half lengths with another Pride of Dubai mare Deny Knowledge (IRE)  finishing third.

Winning rider Ben Melham has a good record on Sirileo Miss and knows her well.

“A couple of blokes rode their horses out of their comfort zone which was detrimental to their chances as there’s not many horses that can do what she does.” Melham said.

“She can sit on top of a strong gallop and get everything off the bit and then she quickens down.

“She puts everything into her races. She’s a very tough mare that has done a great job in her career to date.”

A $60,000 purchase by Wilde Racing from the Miranda Park draft at the 2019 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, Sirileo Miss was bred by Miranda Park’s Gary O’Meara, who retains a share in her ownership.

She has the impressive record of nine wins and six placings from 24 starts with prizemoney just shy of $1million and the Group I ATC Coolmore Legacy (160m) in Sydney on April 8 looms as a possible target.

Sirileo Miss is a half-sister to stakes-placed Sophia's Choice and is the best of seven winners from terrific producer She’s Sirius.

Purchased by Miranda Park Bloodstock for $75,000 at the 2017 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale, She’s Sirius is a half-sister by Galileo to Listed VRC Ottawa Stakes winner Spectrolite.

She’s Sirius foaled a filly by King’s Legacy on August 28 last year.

Pride of Dubai is enjoying a hot run of form.

Sirileo Miss continues a hot run for her sire Pride of Dubai, who has sired a flurry of recent stakes-winners in Marharba, She’s Fit and his Group I ATC Ranvet Stakes winner Dubai Honour.
