Expensive Pierro Winner Shows Promise

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday March 22

A $625,000 purchase from the NZB Ready to Run Sale in 2021 where he was the second highest priced horse of the sale, talented Pierro gelding Simeon opened his account at Sandown on Wednesday at his second start.

Trained by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, Simeon was second on debut at Pakenham over 1200m and appreciated  the step up to 1500m to lead all the way and win by a couple of lengths under Daniel Moor.

“Life comes easy to him because he’s a quality horse, but he has a few quirks to iron out,” said Daniel Moor.

“He’s got really good ability and his defeat behind Pat Carey’s horse (Who Dares) who looks quite smart enhances that, so he’s definitely Saturday grade and with improvement, who knows.”

Simeon was a big pinhook winner for Riversley Park.

Simeon was purchased by Busuttin Racing / Group 1 Bloodstock / Ozzie Kheir from the Riversley Park draft and was a super successful pinhook for them having been sourced from the Sledmere Stud draft at Inglis Easter for $150,000.

Simeon was bred by Rifa Mustang and is the first winner from Group III placed Fastnet Rock mare Mary Lou.

Pierro has a sensational draft of 29 for Inglis Easter.
