One to Watch – Eagle Farm

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday March 15

A good-looking daughter of So You Think carried the colours of Peachester Lodge to victory at Eagle Farm on Wednesday at her third start.

Trained by Tony Gollan, Compass Rose was only seventh on debut in January, then improved for fourth at her next run last month before stepping up to 1600m, for this maiden assignment.

She relished the longer trip to charge home for Angela Jones and win by the best part  of a length over another son of So You Think in Wise Legend.

Both horses look well capable of winning more races.

“We’ve been very patient with her, but she’s a lovely filly for Mrs Huddy,” said Tony Gollan.

“She’s done a good job and will get further I think, at least 2000m.”

A $150,000 Magic Millions purchase for Peachester Lodge from Baramul Stud, Compass Rose was bred by Gerry Harvey and is a half-sister good metro winner Selburose being the third winner from Group III placed Redoute’s Choice mare Rose Pattern, a daughter of brilliant Group II winning sprinter Fair Embrace.

So You Think has a great record with mares by Redoute's Choice.

Compass Rose is the 40th winner from 51 starters by So You Think from daughters of Redoute’s Choice, with the nick running at over 78% winners to runners and producing four stakes-winners headed by Group I winners Inference and D’rgento as well as Group II winner Fasika.
