One to Watch – Hawkesbury

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday March 14

Brad Widdup has had a lot of success with Kiwi bred mare Icebath, who he purchased from Inglis Classic and it looks like he might have found another talented Kiwi bred from the same source.

Three year-old Savabeel gelding Jedibeel had shown good promise at the trials and was sent out an odds on favourite for the 1100m maiden. He gave his supports a very easy watch when cruising home to win by nearly three lengths.

Bought as a weanling out of New Zealand and re-offered at Inglis Classic by Cannon Hayes Stude, he was snapped up by Brad Widdup for $190,000.

Jedibeel was a $190,000 Inglis Classic purchase.

Jedibeel is a full brother to multiple Group placed Starrybeel and is the fifth winner from unraced O’Reilly mare Starry, a half-sister to stakes-winner Delta Girl from the family of Group I winner Savy Yong Blonk and Golden Eagle winner I Wish I Win, who are both also by Savabeel.
