New Stakes-Winning Stayer for So You Think

Tara Madgwick - Saturday February 25

A huge day of Black Type racing at Sandown on Saturday kicked off with a new stakes-winner for So You Think with the $175,000 Listed MRC Victoria Gold Cup (2100m) won by the heavily backed favourite Right You Are.

A progressive six year-old in the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable, Right You Are made it four wins on the trot when leading throughout for Ethan Brown to beat Melbourne Cup winner Vow and Declare by a length and a half.

He kicked away in the straight and was eased down on the line to take his overall record to eight wins and six placings from 19 starts with prizemoney topping $570,000.

“He’s in career best form and had a fitness edge and there didn’t look to be a lot of speed and Ethan has as much confidence as the horse at the moment so the combination worked,” said Ciaron Maher.

“It was an easy watch. He keeps ticking up the grades and there are plenty of options for him, so we’ll see how far he goes.”

Right You Are is a new SW for So You Think.

Right You are was retained to race by his breeders and is the best of two winners from Group III Geelong Cup winner Leica Ding, who is by Victoria Derby winner Redding from the famed Leica family with champion filly Leica Show his fifth dam.

Leica Ding sadly died in 2021 and her final foal is an unnamed two year-old filly by Capitalist.

Right You Are is the 48th stakes-winner for So You Think.
