Mill Park Premier Prospects for Speed and the Classics

Sponsored Content - by Tara Madgwick - Thursday February 23

Mill Park Stud in South Australia is renowned for bringing a quality draft across to Victoria for the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale and their selection of 11 for this year features a tantalising mix of speed and classic potential including several siblings to Group winners.

The Watson family have nurtured generations of superior runners on the vast paddocks of Mill Park and their organic approach to the breeding and raising of young thoroughbreds is a tried and tested recipe for racetrack success.

From fast two year-olds to brilliant older sprinters, classic three year-olds and Cups heroes, the Mill Park brand is synonymous with Group I performance.

The Mill Park raised honour roll of success features a galaxy of Group I stars and million dollar earners such as speed queens Away Game, Instant Celebrity, Booker, Run Fox Run and Seradess as well as outstanding performers including Warning, Dalasan, Berkeley Square, Peltzer and Hong Kong based Senor Toba, who was an Inglis Premier purchase, snapped up by Hermitage Thoroughbreds for $180,000 in 2019.

Second in the Group I Queensland Derby, Senor Toba is now a multiple Group winner in Australia and Hong Kong with earnings topping $2million.

His half-brother by Harry Angel (IRE) from Bahamas will be offered as Lot 288.

Harry Angel (IRE) colt from Bahamas.

“Harry Angel is a young sire doing a great job and Bahamas is shaping as an exceptional producer leaving not only Senor Toba, but also Berkeley Square, who won the G2 Moonee Valley Vase in the spring and was then fourth in the G1 Caulfield Guineas,” said Chris Watson.

Recently retired Dawn Passage was a Mill Park Inglis Premier graduate, plucked from their draft in 2018 by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott / Blue Sky Bloodstock for just $150,000.

The six year-old son of Dawn Approach (IRE) won multiple Group races and retires with earnings topping $1.7million!

Star on the rise from Mill Park - Inglis Premier is undoubtedly three year-old Hellbent filly Benedetta, who has won three of four starts for the Jason Warren stable and but for an unlucky debut third could easily be undefeated.

Benedetta is a Mill Park star on the rise!

A $75,000 purchase for Eales Racing Syndications, Benedetta has won over $176,000 and is on track for a tilt at Black Type races as the autumn unfolds.
