Group One Double for War Front

Media Release - Thursday October 12
With GROUP I wins for his daughters Roly Poly and War Flag , War Front achieved a GROUP I turf double for a second consecutive weekend to further consolidate his standing as one of the world's best sires.

With nine individual GROUP I horses already in 2017, War Front sits behind only Galileo, Dubawi and Deep Impact among all sires standing in the northern hemisphere.

The Aidan O'Brien trained filly, Roly Poly brought up her third GROUP I victory this year in the Sun Chariot Stakes over a mile at Newmarket, beating the top-class duo Persuasive and Nathra by 1 ¼ lengths.

She now targets the GROUP I Breeders' Cup Fillies & Mares Turf and was described by her trainer as "a great filly – tactical and tough and incredibly bred".

Air Force BlueRoly Poly's win is an addition to the already remarkable record for her dam Misty For Me (Galileo), who was a multiple GROUP I winner herself and also the dam Roly Poly's full brother, last weekend's GROUP I Middle Park Stakes winner, U S Navy Flag , as well as G3 winner Cover Song (Fastnet Rock).

In Sunday's GROUP I Flower Bowl Stakes over 2000m on turf at Belmont, War Flag became the 16th individual GROUP I winner for her sire. In doing so, she defeated a high-class field including GROUP I winners Dacita (Scat Daddy) and Zhukova (Fastnet Rock).

The Joe Allen owned mare will now look to take on her paternal half-sister Roly Poly, in next month's GROUP I Breeders' Cup Fillies & Mare Turf.

In 2017, Australasian breeders have the opportunity to breed to War Front's triple GROUP I -winning Champion European 2yo, Air Force Blue. Standing at the value fee of $16,500 (inc. GST) mares already in foal to him include the dam of 6-time GROUP I -winning World Champion sprinter Chautauqua.
