One to Watch – Newcastle

Tara Madgwick - Monday February 13

Frankel is one of the best stallions in the world and when you get the chance to buy one of his yearling fillies for just $115,000 and she comes out and wins at her third start that’s a win in itself!

Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, three year-old filly Frankie’s Me Dad was a well backed favourite to cast off maiden status in a Class 1 race at Newcastle on Monday over 2100m and she got the job in style.

She forged clear of her older rivals to win by a length and a half continuing the steady improvement she has shown from a debut eighth on January 7th to a last start third at Newcastle on January 28 and now a win.

Frankie’s Me Dad was a savvy purchase for Dynamic Syndications / Dean Watt Bloodstock from the Yulong draft at Inglis Premier.

Frankie's Me Dad was bred and sold by Yulong.

She is the first winner for Daddys Poppit (GB), a winning Scat Daddy daughter of US Group III winner Valiant Girl from a prolific international Black Type family.

Daddys Poppit produced a filly for Yulong last spring by Alabama Express and is back in foal to him again.

Juddmonte Farms super sire Frankel has an exceptional record in Australia and had a new stakes-winner here on Saturday when seven year-old gelding Farooq won the Listed SAJC Premier’s Plate at Morphettville.
