Rich Enuff Filly Rich Fortune Launches Late in Kevin Hayes

Mark Smith - Saturday February 11

The least experienced of the thirteen fillies in the Group III Senet Kevin Hayes Stakes at Sandown Hillside, Rich Enuff’s daughter Rich Fortune scythed between runners to earn her first black-type success with the promise of many more to come.

Ridden by Craig Williams for Jerome Hunter, Rich Fortune launched over the final 50m to defeat the I Am Invincible filly Queen Of The Ball by a half-head with another daughter of I am Invincible, Cythera, a long-neck back in third.

Rich Fortune made her debut last September when second at Mornington.

She was off the scene for 16 weeks before opening her winning account over 1000m at Moonee Valley on Christmas Eve.

Jerome Hunter said Rich Fortune needed all of the 1100m.

“I’m glad the winning post has been moved because she had no hope if the race was the original distance,” Hunter said.

“Great ride. Craig was cool. He knew the horse. He’s ridden her in her trials.

“I knew she was my best horse. I’ve always thought of that win at Moonee Valley. It takes a good horse to do what she did.

“I just hope we get a crack at some big races, and she’s up with them.”

A homebred for Graeme Gathercole, Rich Fortune is the first winner from three to race for the winning Bel Esprit mare Nkwazi's Daughter.

A sister to Listed Kensington stakes winner Belwazi, Nkwazi's Daughter has an unraced 2yo Reward for Effort filly named Reward's Daughter and a yearling filly by Magnus.

After missing in 2021, Nkwazi's Daughter visited Redente last spring.

Rich Fortune is the fourth stakes-winner for Woodside Park Stud’s Written Tycoon stallion Rich Enuff whose daughter Belle Et Riche finished second in the Group III Bellmaine Stakes at Sandown last week.
