A $1.95 million Inglis Easter purchase for Sheamus Mills Bloodstock from the Coolmore draft, three year-old filly Humming has been handled patiently by Mick Price and Mick Kent Jr.

Given a soft barrier trial at Geelong last month, humming was sent out a hot favourite for the 1200m maiden and ran up to expectation when cruising home to win by a couple of lengths.

“She begun well, so I used her a little bit which we hadn’t done in her jump outs so she was a little but looky in front, but she idled nicely and I always felt we were in control,” said Damian Lane.

“She’s a lovely well bred filly with a big price tag so it’s important to knock that first win over early and hopefully at this time of year we can get her going into some better races.”

$1.95 million for Humming !

Humming keeps the record perfect for her Group II winning dam Hips Don’t Lie, who has had eight foals to race and all are winners.

Among those winners are Group I placed stakes-winner Lake Geneva, stakes-winner Acrobat, who won the Inglis Nursery at his only start and retired to Coolmore last spring to cover 188 mares, and of course Group III winner Ennis Hill, the dam of exciting Group III winning 2YO filly Learning to Fly.

Hips Don’t Lie has no yearling for the sales this year, but produced a filly by Snitzel last spring and was then covered by I Am Invincible’s champion son Home Affairs.
