TBNSW and HTBA Seeks New Executive Officer

Media Release - Sunday February 5

A career expanding opportunity has arisen for a passionate thoroughbred industry administrator looking to expand their horizon.

Executive Officer Julianne Christopher will be finishing up in the concurrent roles at Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders (HTBA) and Thoroughbred Breeders NSW (TBNSW), next month she will be joining the team at Newcastle Jockey Club in the newly created role of Corporate Partnerships and Community Specialist.

Julianne Christopher

The Thoroughbred industry has significantly benefited as a result of her commitment and dedication to serving and building both organisations, through innovative projects and much needed collaboration of industry affiliations. Julianne’s passion for the people in the industry underpins the implementation of the state wide workforce development project, delivering free training to over 600 people, valued at over $2 million in grant funding which has secured an education pathway for the future.

This change comes at a time when the Thoroughbred industry is in great shape and experiencing enormous growth, with continual flow of upcoming sires and success of NSW bred horses at the sales and racetracks around the nation and the globe.

Both TBNSW and HTBA Boards recognise that Julianne will be a loss for their organisations and have no doubt the Newcastle Jockey Club will benefit from her focus and energy.

“Since she commenced working for TBNSW in 2017 Julianne has driven improvements across many aspects of the industry - collaborating at a national level, increasing engagement with breeders, sales companies, racing regulators, governments and sponsors. In particular her work in broadening and strengthening educational and welfare initiatives means she leaves this side of the industry in a much better place than when she started”. TBNSW President, Hamish Esplin.

“Julianne has worked tirelessly for the HTBA and our members for near on 9 years. During this time, she has developed HTBA into a key participant in the education of people entering and working in the industry. The entire breeding industry has profited from her work and on behalf of the Committee, we wish her every good fortune in her new role.” HTBA President, Cameron Collins.

Expressions of interest are now open for submissions; part time or full-time roles are being considered. Interested candidates with knowledge of the thoroughbred industry, marketing, events and administrative skills are encouraged to apply.
