Savabeel's Angelic Miss Back to Form in Scenic Blast

Mark Smith - Saturday January 28

The six-year-old Savabeel mare Angelic Miss returned to her best form to score a barnstorming win in Saturday’s Listed Scenic Blast Stakes at Ascot.

Ridden by Pat Carbery for Simon Miller, Angelic Miis overpowered the well-supported Phanta (Gingerbread Man) by a head, with the 9yo veteran Carocapo (Husson) three-quarter lengths back in third.

The winner of the Listed WATC Jungle Dawn Classic and Listed WATC Jungle Mist Classic in 2021, Angelic Miss, was winning for the first time in 60 weeks.

A $250,000 purchase for her trainer from the Windsor Park Stud draft at the 2018 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Angelic Miss advances her record to seven wins, two seconds, and four thirds from 19 starts, with earnings of  $357,800.

“That was good. It was her of old,” Miller said.

“She just did not look good when I gave her the one run over the carnival. Her coat was awful.

“We put her out until she looked good, then brought her back, and she had a bit of residual fitness and was ready to go.”

Angelic Miss is the best of three winners from as many to race out of the stakes-placed Guillotine mare Angelica Hall.

A daughter of the 3-time Listed stakes winner Greta Hall (Kaapstad), Angelica Hall has an unnamed 2yo filly by Mongolian Khan, which failed to make her $80,000 reserve at Karaka last year. She has a yearling colt by Ten Sovereigns (IRE) and visited Circus Maximus (IRE) in 2021.
