Capitalist Tops 2YO Sires by Winners

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 28

Newgate Farm’s Capitalist moved to the top of the Australian two year-old sires by winners list when the Annabel Neasham trained filly Dorothy Gail bowled over the hot favourite at Scone on Friday.

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott dispatched promising colt Tarabeau to Scone to break his maiden after his debut sixth in the Group III ATC Breeders Plate, but he will have to wait for another day with Dorothy Gail surging past him to win the 900m scamper by a length and a half running away.

It was the second start for Dorothy Gail, who was third to another highly rated Capitalist filly in Lazzago when making her debut at Randwick in December.

Dorothy Gail was a $190,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Tricolours Racing.

A $190,000 Inglis Classic purchase from Davali Thoroughbreds for Tricolours Racing, Dorothy Gail is eligible for the $2million Inglis Millennium and with $32,000 and change in the bank should have assured her place in the field.

Dorothy Gail is the second winner from Mystical Tale, a winning Encosta de Lago grand-daughter of Golden Slipper winner Polar Success.

She becomes the seventh two year-old winner this season for Capitalist, who is the most represented sire at the upcoming Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
