One to Watch – Pakenham

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 25

A fast finishing debut two year-old winner by Dundeel is always a horse we are going to want to know more about.

Trained by Team Hawkes, Fistsoffury produced a strong turn of foot to overpower the leaders and win the 1200m juvenile maiden at Pakenham on debut.

“He’s a colt with nice ability and it was a great ride from Damien Oliver,” said Wayne Hawkes.

“We thought he was cheap (as a yearling). He was a lovely relaxed colt and we have a soft spot for Dundeels as we have a few at home and we think he can be the next good stallion so we’ve put our money where our mouth is.”

A $150,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Morningside draft, Fistsoffury is the second winner from stakes-placed import Star Via Strada (USA), a half-sister by Street Boss to Group III winner The Tabulator.

Star Via Strada has no yearling for the sales this year, but had a filly by Brazen Beau last spring before being covered by Wild Ruler.
