Juvenile Trial Watch –Warwick Farm

There were plenty of G1 stars in action at the trials at Warwick Farm on Monday including Anamoe, Forbidden Love, In Secret and Zougotcha, but this story is called Juvenile Trial Watch, so let’s focus on the two year-olds.

Four heats for the juveniles and the quickest of them was won by the Annabel Neasham trained Justify (USA) filly Learning to Fly, who finished over the top of Perfect Proposal, last seen running second in the Gimcrack Stakes last spring at her only start.

Both fillies were having their second trial this prep and are ready to go racing, also in the trial having a quiet gallop was Zulfiqar, winner of the Maribyrnong Trial.

$900,000 Inglis Easter purchase Learning to Fly.

A $900,000 Inglis Easter purchase, Learning to Fly is bred to go fast and early being from Group III winning Fastnet Rock mare Ennis Hill, a sister to juvenile stakes-winners Lake Geneva and Acrobat.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained fillies Sicilian and Just Glamourous went toe to toe at the finish of this heat and both have shown good ability in their only previous start so will be expected to measure up to stakes class in the autumn.

I Am Invincible filly Sicilian was a $650,000 Magic Millions purchase last year and her full sister made $550,000 at the sale last week to the bid of Trilogy Racing, while Just Glamourous was a $900,000 purchase and the Justify filly is the second foal of dual Group I winner Global Glamour.

Justify is looking for his first Australian winner and it’s hard not to think it’s going to be either Just Glamourous or Learning to Fly.

Another Gai and Adrian trained heat winner in Tarabeau and there’s a bit to like about this Brazen Beau colt, whose only start was in the Breeders Plate when he raced forward from a wide gate, got posted three wide all the way and was still there until the 100m when he faded on the heavy ground.

Tarabeau was a $90,000 Inglis Classic purchase and has a half-sister by Zousain entered for Classic this year as Lot 140 by Silverdale Farm, who will be hoping he can put a win on the board before the sale.

Third placed Hellbent filly Divine Glory did her best work late and with a third in the Gimcrack and a subsequent win at Warwick Farm at her only starts, she looks primed for another good campaign.

Mumbai Muse caught our eye at her first trial when finishing second on January 3 and the Michael Freedman trained Zoustar filly looked even better this time settling behind the leaders and surging late when switched around them to win by half a length over Satin and Silk, who was fifth in the Gimcrack.

A $525,000 Inglis Easter purchase, Mumbai Muse is a sibling to SW Jazz Etude and stakes-paced Mumbai Jewel and Splendoronthegrass from good producer Mumbai Rock, who has had four foals to race and all are winners. Her Zoustar colt is entered for Inglis Premier as Lot 598 for Morning Rise Stud.
