Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Thursday January 12

There was plenty of interest at the Rosehill trials this morning with quality stakes-winning three year-old fillies Revolutionary Miss, Cythera and North Star Lass all in action, but it was some unraced two year-olds that made us pull out the Black Book.

Snitzel colt Shinzo was retained to race by Coolmore and the Chris Waller trained brother to Exhilarates was having his third trial here and again showed good potential to edge out Oscar Charlie.

Coolmore paid $1.8million for Shinzo’s dual Group I winning dam Samaready at the 2020 Inglis Chairman’s Sale when she was in foal to Snitzel with Shinzo the result. Samaready was exported to Ireland last year.

Trifecta in this trial for I Am Invincible youngsters with the winner Heman, from the Peter and Paul Snowden stable, showing good improvement from his first trial last month when sixth into this one.  He was asked to find the line along the fence and nosed out the filly Kundalini, who looked good at her first appearance.

Newgate Farm sold the full sister to Heman at Magic Millions to Strawberry Hill Stud/Bjorn Baker Racing/Clarke Bloodstock Pty Ltd for $575,000 and you can see her here.

A $1.7million Inglis Easter purchase, Kundalini runs for Fairway Thoroughbreds and was the second highest priced filly by I am Invincible sold in 2022 and is a half-sister to Group III winner Rise of the Masses from Group I winner Ruud Awakening.

Mohave Desert was having his third trial, but first this preparation and was the sale-topper at Inglis Premier last year.

Bjorn Baker can find a good Winning Rupert such as Passeggiata, which is no surprise given he trained him, so there is a bit to like about Rupert’s House, who was having his first run since being gelded after an unplaced effort at the official trials last spring.

Rupert’s House was the most expensive Winning Rupert sold in 2022 and comes from a North American family that is not unknown in Australia having produced Champion 2YO and 3YO Colt Encounter.

I Am Famous is the most expensive filly by I Am Invincible.

Also of interest the only grey in the trial, I Am Famous, the half-sister by I Am Invincible to Everest winner Classique Legend from Pinocchio, the full sister to Champion Miler Racing to Win. Bought for $2million at Inglis Easter from Tyreel Stud, she was the most expensive I Am Invincible sold in 2022 and is his most expensive filly ever.

I Am Famous had a typical quiet Chris Waller trial at her first public outing and we look forward to seeing her again.

The quickest heat was won by the Bjorn Baker trained Street Boss (USA) filly Rockabilly Rebel who has looked better with every trial and was impressive here.

Retained to race by here breeder, the talented daughter of Group II winner Text ‘n’ Hurley has a full sister headed to Inglis Premier as Lot 192.
