$650,000 for Zousain Filly

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 11

His champion sire Zoustar smashed the all time Magic Millions Yearling Sale record when his filly from Solar Charged sold for $2.6million, but his exciting young sire son Zousain also had his time to shine with a filly from Sheila’s Star selling for $650,000.

$650,000 Zousain filly from Sheila's Star.

Consigned by Rosemont Stud, she is a three-quarter sister to Group II ATC Furious Stakes winner North Star Lass and was purchased by Yu Long Investments (Australia) Pty Ltd/Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing/Kestrel Thoroughbreds.

Sam Fairgray of Yulong is obviously a fan of Zoustar since they bought the record-breaking full sister to champion filly Sunlight, but he has also been impressed with the stock of Zousain.

“She was a fantastic physical and being a three-quarter-sister to North Star Lass she’s got a lot of residual there, so with a great physique like that it’s great to get a filly like her,” said Fairgray.

“They’re (the Zousains) very nice from what we’re seeing. They’re good types and they look like they’ll be precocious types.”

The filly will be trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, who also prepare North Star Lass.

Sheila’s Star was covered again last spring by Zoustar.

Zousain is having a great sale!

Zousain has had 100% clearance on his stock so far with 14 selling at an average $228,214.
