$1.1 Million Zoustar Filly From Members Joy

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday January 10

She was the most expensive weanling sold in Australia last year when she fetched $750,000 at the Gold Coast in May and on Tuesday she became the first seven figure yearling of 2023 when selling at Magic Millions.

Consigned for sale this time by Newhaven Park, the Zoustar half-sister to Group II winner Pure Elation from Members Joy thoroughly enjoyed her second turn around the sale ring.

She was there for quite a while as bidding spiralled past her previous sale price of $750,000 with Victorian bloodstock agent Sheamus Mills the last man standing at $1.1million making her the most expensive filly ever sired by Zoustar.

The star filly is the sixth foal of Members Joy, a stakes-winning daughter of Hussonet (USA) that has had three foals to race and all are winners. The family has worked previously with Zoustar to produce slick Perth trained sprinter Indian Pacific, who was also second in the Group I VRC Newmarket Handicap.

Members Joy changed hands last year when purchased from the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale by Suman Hedge Bloodstock for $550,000 and was covered by Snitzel after missing to I Am Invincible.

She has a two year-old Zoustar colt that sold for $550,000 at Inglis Easter last year and has been named To The Wind. Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, he had his first barrier trial at Randwick on Monday.
