Promising Debut 2YO Winner for Capitalist

Tara Madgwick - Sunday January 8

Capitalist will have one of the favourites for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic next weekend in Sovereign Fund and he added a new two year-old winner to his tally with a debut victory for the Prime Thoroughbreds colour bearer Gerety on Sunday.

Kris Lees is never afraid to send a nice horse to the country to break it’s maiden and Gerety was dispatched to Coffs Harbour for an 800m maiden and duly proved a class above.

She powered clear to win by more than two lengths in a dominant display providing a good pedigree update for her half-sister heading to Inglis Classic.

Gerety was a $140,000 Magic Millions purchase for Prime Thoroughbreds from the Valiant Stud draft and is the first winner for speedy Not a Single Doubt winner Magic Diamond, a three-quarter sister to stakes-placed Sheer Style.

Gerety was snapped up by Prime Thoroughbreds for $140,000 at MM last year.

Joe O’Neill of Prime Thoroughbreds has a great record for finding well priced fillies such as Gerety and it’s hard to think more wins won’t be forthcoming.

Valiant Stud will present the current yearling from Magic Diamond, a filly by Brutal, on behalf of her breeder Sunninghill Park as Lot 581 at Inglis Classic.
