Spiritualised Bounces Back - Half-Sister at the Magic Millions

Mark Smith - Saturday January 7

After tailing off last at his most recent start in the Gold Edition Plate at Eagle Farm, the Spirit Of Boom colt Spiritualised bounced back to lead all the way in the $250,000 Magic Millions Rising Stars 3YO & 4YO Colts, Geldings at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Ridden by James Orman for Tony Gollan, Spiritualised won the early battle for the lead when James McDonald elected not to press the issue on Resonator.

On a track that has played to speed all day, Spiritualised was never in any real danger in defeating Mobstar (Shalaa) by a length and three-quarters, with Wealthy Investor (Capitalist) a half-head back in third.

Tony Gollan said he believes Spiritualised choked down when eased out of the race in the Gold Edition and is now likely to press on to next weeks Magic Millons 3yo Guineas.

“He was bloody good today. We sort of had a plan in place to want to be aggressive down the back and take it up,” Gollan said.

“We felt that he’d come back to us nicely and give himself a break midrace, which he did.

“He’s got that habit of wanting to get on that one rein down on the rail, which worried me in the straight, but he fought it off well. Whatever was going to beat him was going to have to run unbelievable sectionals so he did a great job.

“I think he just choked down (last start) and he got into that three-way speed battle and he wasn’t in a good rhythm.

“He wasn’t breathing well and wasn’t in a good rhythm. Today was all about letting him breath and getting him into that stride. He’s a horse that myself and Jimmy Orman have got a really high opinion of.

“He’s a beautiful colt with a lovely action, and when he gives himself an opportunity to show his best, that’s what you see today.

"No one would have thought he’d get 1300 bar me coming here today, but I was really comfortable that he would get this trip, and now he’s got that. I guess we can dare to dream next week.

“He’ll definitely back up, but we’ll get him home and give him a nice week and make some decisions later on.”

Musk Creek offer this Zoustar half-sister to Spritualised at the Magic Millions

Few will welcome the win more than Musk Creek Farm, which consigns a Zoustar half-sister to Spiritualised at the Wednesday session of the Magic Millions. (lot 229)

The highest-priced yearling by his sire, Spiritualised, was bought by Gollan Racing/John Foote Bloodstock for $575,000 from the Musk Creek Farm draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

He is the first foal of the talented Snitzel mare Personalised, who won four of six starts for Michael Costa, with three coming at the Sunshine Coast.

Musk Creek Farm/Boomer Bloodstock (FBAA) went to $525,000 to secure Personalised at the 2019 National Broodmare Sale when carrying Spiritualised.

Spiritualised a $575,000 Magic Millions yearling

Following the $575,000 return for the son of Spirit Of Boom, Musk Creek Farm’s Dundeel colt out of Personalised was knocked down to M Laurie / ARJB Racing for $525,000 at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

Personalised is a half-sister to Group 1 VRC Oaks heroine Personal (Fastnet Rock) and stakes-placed Trope (More Than Ready) and a three-quarter sister to stakes-placegetters Selectify (Redoute’s Choice) and Laser Flash (Redoute’s Choice).

After missing to Written Tycoon in 2021, Personalised was covered by I Am invincible in October.
