New Stakes-Winner for Magnus

Tara Madgwick - Sunday January 1

The $125,000 Listed WATC Summer Scorcher (1000m) at Ascot on New Year’s Day produced plenty of summer sizzle when Magnus sprinter How’s the Serenity led all the way to score her first Black Type win.

Primed for a first up win with two recent trials, the Simon Miller trained mare was fit and ready to fire with Holly Watson guiding her to a length and a half win.

How&

rsquo;s the Serenity has the overall record of eight wins and six placings from 20 starts with $388,760 in prizemoney.

She was a $40,000 Magic Millions Perth purchase from the Scenic Lodge draft for her trainer, who is no doubt a fan of the progeny of Magnus having worked as foreman for Robbie Griffiths in years gone by.

Griffiths has a great record with the progeny of Magnus and has trained several of his stakes-winners including Prettyhappyaboutit, Halvorsen and King Magnus along with many other metro winners by the ever popular veteran sire.

How’s the Serenity is the best of three winners from stakes-placed Sweet Serenity, a half-sister to stakes-winner Private Dancer.

Magnus

She is the 26th stakes-winner for Magnus, who stands at Widden Stud Victoria and has nine entries for Inglis Premier.
