Emerald Kingdom All The Way in The Buffering

Mark Smith - Saturday December 31

Eight-year-old marvel Emerald Kingdom earned a wildcard to the Magic Millions Cup while taking his earnings to over $1,000,000 when leading at every call in the $300,000 Magic Millions The Buffering at Doomben on Saturday.

Ridden by Brodie Loy for Desleigh Forster, Emerald Kingdom was gifted an uncontested lead and was never in any real danger.

The son of Bryannbo's Gift kept up a strong gallop to defeat Rubamos (I Am Invincible) by a half-length, with a long-head back to the fast-finishing Ucalledit (Zacinto) in third.

It was the third win in eight starts for Forster since purchasing Emerald Kingdom for $52,500 at the 2022 Magic Millions July Online Sale.

Previously trained by Robert Heathcote, Emerald Kingdom won the Listed Sunshine Coast Cup in January 2021 and the Group III BRC Sprint at the expense of Tofane in May.

In November, he added a third stakes win and first for his new connections in the Listed Tatt's QLD Recognition Stakes at Doomben.

Forster said Emerald Kingdom is likely to back up in the Magic Millions Cup at the Gold Coast in two weeks.

"As long as he pulls up OK, that's where we will head," Forster said.

"I love this horse. He came to me in good order from (Robert) Heathcote, and I did not have trouble getting a nice bunch of owners.

"I came here very confident. I did not think they could beat him with 57gs. I said to Brodie just bounce and let him go. When he came to the corner and was walking, nothing was going to pass him."

With the $174,000 winner’s cheque, the 8yo son of Bryannbo's Gift advanced his record to 15 wins, three seconds and three thirds from 41 starts with earnings of $1,151,175.

Bred by Shipton lodge, Emerald Kingdom is a full brother to Steel Frost, who won nine races, including the Listed SAJC City of Marion Stakes and the Listed City of Adelaide Hcp.

He is out of the Commands mare Horshoe, who only had the three foals, all by of  Bryannbo's Gift, and all were winners.

A half-sister to the Listed MRC Debutant Stakes winner Eramore (Stratum), Horshoe is out of the Listed Dark Jewel Classic winner Romare Marscay.

A stakes-placed son of Zabeel and the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate winner Dantelagh, Bryannbo's Gift left 76 live foals in nine seasons at stud. He died in 2019.
