Magic Millions First Season Sires – Pierata

Tara Madgwick - Friday December 30

Breednet’s popular First Season Sire Gallery pages are now created offering a fast and easy way to compare yearlings by the new wave of sires on type, so let’s take a look at Magic Millions pin up boy Pierata, the first son of Golden Slipper winning sire Pierro to retire to stud.

A $5.8 million earning Group I winner that finished a brave  fifth in record breaking Everest won by Yes Yes Yes, Pierata was a $160,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Kitchwin Hills draft.

Precocious enough to win at Randwick over 1200m at his second start at two, Pierata emerged in the summer of this three year-old year to cut a swathe through the Queensland Summer Carnival culminating in a dominant win in the $2million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas.

He continued to improve and progress with each season, carving out an enviable reputation as an elite sprinter with a Group I victory in the ATC All Aged Stakes (1400m) and a further four Group I placings.

Pierata is one of six Group I winners by Pierro and is his fastest horse and best sprinter to date, while on the pedigree front his first two dams are by champion sires Flying Spur and Zabeel.

Pierata received some exceptional support in his first year at stud with his book including Champion 3YO Filly and dual Group I winning sprinter Loving Gaby, whose resulting first foal, a gorgeous bay filly will be offered by Segenhoe as Lot 76.
