Snitzel Colt Royal Entrance Makes Winning Debut

Mark Smith - Wednesday December 21

The partnerships headed by Newgate Farm, China Bloodstock and Trilogy Racing are building a formidable army of Magic Millions 2yo Classic aspirants, including the Snitzel colt Royal Entrance who scored a fighting win on debut at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Royal Entrance toughs it out

Given a positive ride by Regan Bayliss, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained chestnut led at every call in the Dundeel At Arrowfield Maiden Hcp (1000m).

The Denman colt Denman Star drew level with Royal Entrance inside the 100m, but the Snitzel colt rallied to win by a half-head.

Godolphin's Zoustar colt Los Padres was a short-neck back in third ahead of the winner's better-fancied stablemate Just Glamourous (Justify x Global Glamour) close-up in fourth.

“He got suitable conditions today, and with the inside draw, he had a fence to follow, which helped a lot,” Adrian Bott said.

‘He is still a bit raw, a bit new, and needed every bit of urging by Regan to get the best out of him.

“He has had a good grounding with plenty of trials, so it was going to take a good fit horse to get over the top of him.

“(Magic Millions) is well and truly on the radar, and Henry Field is here today to see the colt and witness the win. The win gives us a potential path to get there.

Bott said he was happy with the run of Just Glamourous, who was disadvantaged by a wide gate and the way the race was run.

Royal Entrance a $425,000 Magic Millions yearling

China Horse Club/Newgate Bloodstock/Trilogy Racing/Mitchell Bloodstock (FBAA) bought Royal Entrance for $425,000 from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
A brother to stakes-placed Smirnova and a three-quarter brother to stakes-placed Tchaikovsky (Redoute's Choice), Royal Entrance is the fifth winner from as many to race out of the unraced Stravinsky (USA) mare Ballet Blue.

A half-sister to Group II winner and dual Group 1 placed The Heavyweight (Zeditave) and stakes-winners Zedrich (Zeditave), Born Western and Happy Strike, Ballet Blue does not have a yearling this year, but her daughter Ballet Blanc does.

An unraced daughter of Redoute's Choice, Ballet Blanc has a colt from the first crop of Castelvecchio in the Arrowfield draft. (lot 640).

Ballet Blue foaled a Pariah colt on September 9.

Royal Entrance is the third 2yo winner of the season for Snitzel, who has a leading Magic Millions 2yo Classic contender in the Breeders' Plate winner Empire Of Japan who carries the same colours as Royal Entrance.

Snitzel has 46 catalogued for the Magic Millions, two at the Inglis Classic and seven at the Inglis Premier.
