Capitalist Winner Impresses at Sha Tin

Tara Madgwick - Monday December 19

Capitalist is quietly building a good record in Hong Kong with three runners in the jurisdiction for three winners, the latest coming at Sha Tin on Sunday when talented four year-old Capital Legend charged  home to win impressively.

Trained by Caspar Fownes, Capital Legend was having his first Hong Kong run in the 1200m Class Three sprint and settled back in the field before powering home down the outside to win by a long neck.

Capital Legend secured a HK$1 million PP Bonus for owner Steve Ho and looks to have a bright future.

A $90,000 Inglis Premier purchase for his previous Australian trainer John Sadler from the Stonehouse Thoroughbreds draft at Inglis Premier, Capital Legend had four starts in Australia in good company without winning, but was fourth to Fangirl in the Group III VRC Carbine Club Stakes as a three year-old.

Capital Legend as a yearling.

Bred by Kambula Stud he is the first winner for Sweet Melody (NZ), a metro winner up to 2400m from the family of Group winners Hips Don’t Lie and Splintex.

Sweet Melody was covered by Russian Revolution this year and has a yearling filly by Exceedance.

Capitalist has had a productive week with eight winners in the past seven days including Wyong 2YO Classic winner Sovereign Fund and smart Randwick 2YO winner Lazzago.

Capitalist

Capitalist has 35 horses to be offered at Magic Millions and 39 for Inglis Classic where he is the most represented sire.
