Christie DeBernardis New Addition at China Horse Club

Media Release - Monday December 19

Christie DeBernardis has been appointed Regional Manager of the United States and wider Americas and as the Senior Media Manager of the China Horse Club, effective immediately.

Christie DeBernardis

DeBernardis, an award-winning journalist and well-respected industry figure, will work closely with the current management team in global operations and communications. Her appointment brings extensive experience and a fresh outlook to these key divisions of China Horse Club as it moves into its 10th year of operations.

“Christie’s appointment comes at a time when the China Horse Club’s involvement in the United States, in particular, is maturing. The fruits of our efforts over many years are just starting to be seen,” said Teo Ah Khing, China Horse Club’s Chairman.

“The management of this arm of the Club is understandably central to our long-term plans and Christie brings with her a great understanding of this region as well as credibility, professionalism and intent.”

The United States and broader Americas has a growing significance within the Club’s global commercial interests. China Horse Club has again enjoyed heady successes on the track in 2022 in partnership with WinStar Farm through the exceptional Life Is Good and enjoyed record yearling sales headlined by $1.8 million and $1.3 million results on the second day of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

DeBernardis will be responsible for the management of China Horse Club's USA racing and breeding portfolio, including selecting new stock, working with trainers on race plans, matings and stock assessment.

She will also be tasked with maintaining and growing relationships with the organization's members, partners and vendors. She will perform these tasks in not only North America, but LATAM and the Caribbean as well, where China Horse Club has advised on the creation and management of the Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club, a project DeBernardis has participated in from its inception.

DeBernardis spent 10 years as an editor at the Thoroughbred Daily News, covering all aspects of the racing industry and attending major sales and racing events. A lifelong horsewoman, she has also consulted for leading racing operations and actively participated in racehorse management and care, breaking and early training as well as auction work.
