Another Boom 2YO Winner

Tara Madgwick - Sunday December 18

Spirit of Boom posted a fifth two year-old winner of the season when Tracy’s Spirit scored an exciting win at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday to put herself into contention for the $2million Magic Millions 2YO Classic next month.

The Kris Lees trained filly was fourth on debut in the Max Lees Classic at Newcastle in November and was tuned up for this $75,000 open juvenile event with a recent barrier trial.

She tracked the leaders and despite having trouble getting a run, Tracy’s Spirit was finally able to work into the clear and when she did produced a smart turn of foot.

She speared between horses to take the 1000m dash by the best part of a length.

A $280,000 Magic Millions purchase for Australian Bloodstock/Kris Lees Racing from the Element Hill draft, Tracy’s Spirit runs for an all woman syndicate.

Bred by Hutchins Thoroughbreds, she is the third winner from Tracy’s Image, a winning sibling by Encosta de Lago to Australian Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy and to the grand-dam of four-time Group I winner Alligator Blood.

Eureka Stud's Spirit of Boom has more two year-old winners this season than any other sire and has  25 entries for Magic Millions Books 1 and 2.
