Outreach's End Assembly Goes Three for Three in Gold Edition Plate

Mark Smith - Saturday December 17

The three-year-old Outreach gelding End Assembly kept his record at a perfect three for three when ending the unbeaten run of short-priced favourite Golden Boom in Saturday’s Listed Channel 7 Gold Edition Plate (1200m) at Eagle Farm.

Ridden by Justin Stanley for Mark Currie, End Assembly looked set to play second fiddle to Golden Boom, but the son of Spirit Of Boom was on tired legs in the final 50m and was beaten a length.

The Exosphere filly Exo Lady was three lengths back in third.

End Assembly broke his maiden by seven lengths over 1100m at Toowoomba on November 12 and returned to the same track and distance to score by nearly 5-lengths three weeks later.

“A very satisfying win. We trained the mum, and a lot of my close friends are involved in the horse,” Ben Currie said.

“I bought the mum as a tried horse online. They kept the mare and bred from her.

‘We came here thinking he would run well. He had the two 1100m runs at home and came here two weeks between runs.

“There is no real plan (for the future). There is a race here in a couple of weeks over 1350m worth a bit of money. That is the logical option, but we will look after him because we think he is a bit special.”

Outreach

End Assembly is the best of two winners from as many to race out of the 4-time winning Lonhro mare Lonhro’s Spirit. Like Outreach, Lonhro's Spirit descends from the family of Sovereign Edition's sister Royal News (IRE).

Covered every second season, Lonhro’s Spirit has a yearling filly by Press Statement.

End Assembly becomes the second stakes-winner for Widden Stud’s Outreach.

The son of Exceed And Excel stands at a fee of $3,300.
