Invincible Caviar Win Not Without Drama

Tara Madgwick - Saturday December 17

Progressive four year-old I Am Invincible mare Invincible Caviar is the best offspring to race from champion mare Black Caviar after posting her fourth win from six starts at Flemington on Saturday, but the victory was not without it’s share of drama.

Trained by Peter Moody as was her famous mum, Invincible Caviar has been given plenty of time and is in career best form this preparation.

She went out favourite for the Benchmark 84 event over 1200m and in a stirring finish that ended in a dead heat, Invincible Caviar was looking to share the spoils with fast finishing My Yankee Girl.

The stewards lodged a protest alleging excessive use of the whip by Blake Shinn on My Yankee Girl in the final 100m which was upheld giving Invincible Caviar and Jamie Kah the prize.

Find out more about the protest and it’s conclusion.

Invincible Caviar was retained to race by the Black Caviar ownership group and with four wins and nearly $170,000 in prizemoney is the best of three winners from five foals to race from the greta champion Black Caviar.
