Aussie Breeders Cheer G1 Liberty Island Success

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday December 14

A two-time Group I winner in Australia, Yankee Rose has made the perfect start to her stud career in Japan with her two year-old filly Liberty Island scoring a commanding win in the Group I Hanshin Juvenile Fillies Stakes last Sunday, a result that has been celebrated by Rosemont Stud and several other Australian breeders invested in this family.

Yankee Rose has been a game changer for this family!

Rosemont Stud purchased Yankee Rose's dam Condesaar for $320,000 at the 2018 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in foal to Medaglia D’Oro (USA).

She produced a colt from that mating which ended up winning a race after being passed in as a yearling and then her next foal was a filly by Redoute’s Choice that Rosemont Stud sold at Magic Millions 2021 for $500,000.

Condesaar has a Starcraft two year-old filly called Dreamsicle that has been retained to race and after not producing a foal in the last two seasons there is good news now as she is safely in foal.

“She’s in foal to Shamus Award which is great. We love that mating and believe she’s an ideal physical for him,” said Rosemont Stud’s Ryan McEvoy.

“The two year-old filly is a magnificent type and Starcraft is proving a high level broodmare sire.

“She’s had a preparation with Peter Moody who feels she has real nice ability. She’s currently enjoying a small break at our Ceres spelling property and due to come back in shortly. Initial feeling is she might be a late autumn 2yo who improves into her spring 3yo year, but will find out more next prep.”

18yo Condesaar has three older daughters at stud in Australia although sadly lost a fourth this year with Daandine Stud reporting the passing of Great Dansaar (Choisir), who has had three foals to race all winners headed by stakes-winner Isotope and this season’s exciting two year-old filly Mighty.

Daandine Stud will offer the last foal from Great Dansaar, a colt by Isotope’s sire Deep Field at Magic Millions next month as Lot 913.

Another daughter College Girl (All American) went to stud in New Zealand where she produced several foals by Mongolian Khan and is now back in Australia and had a filly by Deep Field this spring before being covered by The Autumn Sun.

Another daughter Conducir (Magic Albert) is also with Daandine Stud and they will offer her second foal, a Deep Field filly, at Magic Millions as Lot 742. This spring she was covered by Zousain.

The final daughter at stud is Group III Kembla Grange Classic winner Miravalle, who was bought by Arrowfield as a yearling in 2019 for $460,000 at Magic Millions. The daughter of Redoute’s Choice produced a colt this spring by Written Tycoon in early August and was interestingly then covered by Palace Pier (GB).
