Extreme Choice Available for Northern Hemisphere Time Coverings

Tara Madgwick - Monday December 12

Australasia’s most elite sire statistically, Extreme Choice, will have his services made available to breeders in the 2023 Northern Hemisphere breeding season.

Extreme Choice will be available for Northern Hemisphere time coverings.

Already the sire of a Champion 2YO in Stay Inside and a Classic winning 3YO in She’s Extreme, Extreme Choice is currently the leading sire in the Southern Hemisphere by both stakes winners to runners and Group 1 winners to runners.

So commercially in demand is Extreme Choice, that he already has three high profile sons at stud from only thirty colts to have ever raced to date.

“There is no question that Extreme Choice is a very rare commodity and one of the best young sires on the planet,” said Newgate Managing Director, Henry Field.

“It is no secret that his fertility and libido are sub-optimal and as such in order to make the most out of this extraordinary young sire, the decision has been made to breed with him Northern Hemisphere time. In a market that is buying a very high number of Northern Hemisphere bred horses annually for significant sums of money, we feel the market is mature enough to really get behind this concept. So good a sire is Extreme Choice that I envisage that he’ll be capable of siring elite Royal Ascot 2YO winners for those that choose to send his progeny to the Northern Hemisphere to race. For those that choose to grow out the progeny in Australia and race them as 3YOs and beyond, they will have a massive opportunity to participate in the same races that we have seen so many Northern Hemisphere bred horses taste success in over the past few years.”

For the record, Extreme Choice has had 36 winners from  54 starters with eight stakes-winners giving him 14.8% SW to runner.

Commercial demand for Extreme Choice in the sale ring at 2022 yearling sales was extraordinary with 25 yearlings conceived from a $22,000 fee selling at all sales at an average $337,000. His best result was an $825,000 colt from To Dubawi Go that topped Inglis Classic for Mane Lodge when bought by China Horse Club / Newgate Bloodstock / Trilogy.

Extreme Choice has 41 yearlings and nearly half of them (18) are entered for the Magic Millions Yearling Sale next month.

Extreme Choice will stand the Northern Hemisphere breeding season at Newgate Farm in Australia.
