Earlier this year we ran a lovely story about Ian Smith and the apple of his eye, star broodmare Jade Tiara, the dam of his world champion sprinter Silent Witness.

She turned 29 this year, but the passing of time has caught up with Jade and she was laid to rest this week at Edinburgh Park.

Jade Tiara was retired from stud duty in 2013 and enjoyed a long and happy life as a nanny.
