Subdued Session of Tattersalls December Mares Sale, Aussies Still Find Value

Mark Smith - Thursday December 1

Plenty of sore heads around in Oz today, so thankfully a more subdued session of Tattersalls December Mares Sale.

Lot 2220 Desert Team (IRE) (Invincible Spirit x Kilmah by Sepoy) Harry McAlpine Bloodstock 55,000gns.

Second at Sandown at her only start last season at two, Desert Team (IRE) had a relatively busy 2022 for Simon and Ed Crisford.

The daughter of Invincible Spirit made seven starts, winning at Wolverhampton, Catterick, and Newmarket.

She is the first foal of Sepoy’s Group III Prestige Stakes winner Kilmah (GB), which has a 2021 filly by Shamardal (USA) and a 2022 filly by Pinatubo (IRE).

Desert Team’s dam, granddam, great-granddam, and great-granddam are stakes performers.

Lot 2196 Glimmering (GB) (Kingman x Cut Short by Diesis) Pinhook Bloodstock International 35,000gns.

Three-year-old filly Glimmering (GB) has made just one start, finishing third over a mile and a half at Sandown in January for Tom Dascombe, and has not been seen since.

The daughter of Kingman is a half-sister to Listed stakes-winner Brevity (Street Cry) and the Grade 1-placed Concise (Lemon Drop Kid).

Glimmering’s dam Cut Short is a sister to the Group II Champagne Stakes and Group II Richmond Stakes winner Dagger’s Drawn (USA), the Curraghmore shuttler who sired the Group 1 ARC Ellerslie Sires' Produce Stakes winner Iflooxcouldkill.
