Rich Enuff's Diamonds Strikes in City Of Marion Stakes

Mark Smith - Saturday November 26

Third in the race twelve months ago, the five-year-old Rich Enuff mare Diamonds went two better in Saturday’s Listed City of Marion Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville.

The Chris Bieg-trained mare honoured apprentice Teagan Voorham with a first stakes winner when coming from last with a storming finish down the centre of the track to defeat Manhatten Times (Manhattan Rain) by three-quarters of a length with Morvada (Mossman) a length and a quarter back in third.

Bieg is the third trainer of Diamonds after Ryan Balfour to Gemma Rielly.

A $200,000 purchase for Ryan Balfour Racing from the Woodside Park draft at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Diamonds advances her record to seven wins, four seconds, and five thirds from 27 starts, with earnings of $317,270.

A three-quarter sister to Group 1 placed Masthead (Written Tycoon) and closely related to Group III Typhoon Tracy Stakes winner Written Dash (Written Tycoon), Diamonds is one of seven winners from eight to race out of the Redoute’s Choice mare Balsimico.

Diamonds is the third stakes winner for Woodside Park Stud’s Rich Enuff, who stands at a fee of $8,800.
