Interstate Stakes Double for Frankel

Mark Smith - Saturday November 26

Yet another stakes double for Juddmonte Farm's remarkable Frankel, with Dajraan (GB) opening his stakes account in the Festival Stakes at Rosehill before My Whisper came with a barnstorming finish in the Group III Summoned Stakes (1600m) at Caulfield.

The Emirates Park homebred Dajraan (GB) is the son of Golden Slipper heroine Mossfun (Mossman).

Ridden by Tim Clark for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Dajraan (GB) defeated Mirror vision (Lonhro) by a length with Kirwan's Lane (Charm Spirit) a long neck back in third.

Mossfun has an unraced 2yo I Am Invincible filly named Mathkhoora and a yearling filly by I Am Invincible. The Golden Slipper winner foaled a Capitalist filly on August 22.

Dajraan (GB) became the 107th stakes-winner for Frankel.

Yulong's 4yo mare Frankel mare My Whisper chalked up a third stakes win in the Summoned Stakes.

Ridden by Mark Zahra for Peter and Paul Snowden, My Whisper defeated Toregene (Mongolian Khan) by a long neck with Cliff's Art (IRE) (Canford Cliffs) a neck back in third.

My Whisper advances her record to six wins, and a third from 11 starts with earnings of $424,445.

Stable representative Andrew Angelone said the daughter of Frankel will be competitive in whatever she contests next year.

"She was a little bit further back than I anticipated, but Mark rode her beautifully, and you could see from 300 metres out she was going to be hard to beat," Angelone said.

"It was a bit of a gut punch in the Empire Rose from that draw; 2023 can see her go on again. She's definitely got more ability than what she's showing and still improving. It's great to win a nice race for Yulong, they're good supporters of Peter and Paul."

Zahra said the race panned out beautifully.

“I was following the favourite Roots, and she was a little bit keen early, but it’s happened all day, when horses hit that wind down the side they tend to go a bit keen, and the leaders put on a bit more speed, but that helped my filly relax.

“I think we’ve found her trip is a mile, so in the right Group 1 over a mile against her own age, she’ll be suited.”

Passed in short of her $300,000 at round two of the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, the daughter of Frankel is the first foal of the Poet’s Voice mare Hersigh (GB).

My Whisper failed to make her $300,000 at Inglis Easter

A Godolphin homebred, Hersigh won races on the all-weather at Chelmsford and Lingfield in an eight-start career.

A half-sister to Listed stakes-winner Ennaadd (King’s Best), Hersigh is out of the stakes-winning Singspiel mare Zayn Zed whose dam Roshani is a three-quarter sister to the champion Oh So Sharp.

Consigned to the 2017 Tattersalls August Sale, Hersigh (GB) was a £52,000 purchase by BBA Ireland.

The Snowdens train My Whispers 2yo half-sister by Grunt named All At Once.

After missing to Grunt in 2020, Hersigh (GB) foaled a Lucky Vega (IRE) filly on August 29.
