Impressive First Winner for Trapeze Artist

Tara Madgwick - Saturday November 26

Snitzel’s champion son Trapeze Artist has his first two year-olds racing this season and posted his very first winner at Rosehill on Saturday when talented colt Disneck surged to the line to win the $150,000 open juvenile event over 1100m.

Trained by Bjorn Baker, Disneck won a trial in good style last month and was then eighth on debut in the $1million ATC Golden Gift behind Barber beaten just over three lengths.

Ridden by Rachel King this time, he was allowed to find his feet f rom an outside draw and stormed to the line out wide to win by a length and a half over Kimochi, a daughter of another first season sire in Brave Smash (Jpn).

Bjorn Baker was thrilled with the win and has lucrative Inglis incentive races in mind for the handsome bay colt.

“He’s a very laid back cool customer and hels really come on from that first run when he had absolutely no luck that day,” said Baker.

“I was pretty confident held run well here today. He has similar traits to his sire and is getting better and better, so he’s exciting going forward.

“There’s a half million dollar race in a couple of weeks at Randwick for Inglis graduates so we may have to have a look at that. He’s a nice horse with a great attitude.”

Disneck was a $200,000 Inglis Classic purchase.

Bred by Phoenix Thoroughbreds, Disneck was a $200,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Gooree Park draft for Bjorn Baker Racing / Clarke Bloodstock (FBAA) and has a prominent baldy face like his sire.

He is the first winner from a speedy imported stakes-winner in Lindisfarne (USA), a half-sister by City Zip to Group I placed stakes-winner Flora Dora.

Lindisfarne was on-sold through Inglis Digital in 2021 for just $7,000 to Killeenfarna and produced a Pariah filly for her new owner in September.

Disneck looks a bright prospect for Trapeze Artist, a Champion 3YO and four time Group I winner that stands at Widden stud at a fee of $55,000.
