One to Watch – Canterbury

Tara Madgwick - Saturday November 26

Godolphin don’t have a lot of horses by Frankel in their Australian stable, but they had a winner at Canterbury on Friday night by the champion sire that is very much appreciating getting off wet tracks, while his half-brother may make it a family double at Rosehill this afternoon.

Frankel has sired 15 winners in Australia this season including four stakes-winners!

The James Cummings trained three year-old gelding Tradition was unplaced in four starts on wet ground this year, but broke his maiden last start at Newcastle over 1900m when performing on a good track for the first time.

He stepped straight into a Benchmark 64 event against older horses again over 1900m and made it back to back wins when scoring by a long neck.

Tradition is the first foal of unraced Dubawi mare Wedding Veil, a half-sister to Group I winner Ibn Khaldun and to the dam of Mischief Magic, who won the Group I Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint for Godolphin in Kentucky this year.

Wedding Veil has a two year-old Fastnet Rock colt called Diabelli that runs at Rosehill this afternoon.

She has a yearling colt by Mischief Magic’s sire Exceed and Excel and had a Street Boss (USA) filyl this spring before being covered by Victor Ludorum (GB).
