Previously trained in New Zealand by Catherine Cameron, the daughter of Redwood won two and placed in two of her six starts in her homeland, including victory in the Gr.3 Sunline Vase (2100m) where she beat subsequent Group One winner Mustang Valley.

“I think they were a good crop of three-year-olds and I think she is right up there and potentially one of the better ones to come out of that crop,” Australian Bloodstock’s Jamie Lovett said.

“We are hoping that will be the case. I think she has got a bit more scope than some of the others.”

Bellatrix Black will enter the care of Newcastle trainer Kris Lees and Lovett is hoping to see her in some of the feature staying races in Melbourne next spring.

“Kris Lees will train her and she arrived last week,” Lovett said.

“Just looking at her physically, there is plenty for Kris to work with and she might end up a Caulfield Cup (Gr.1, 2400m) sort of mare in the spring of 23.

“She will go straight in to the system in the next week or two. We will look to poke around in the autumn and we will hopefully see the best of her in the spring.” - NZ RAcing Desk
