Mark Smith - Friday November 18

The $2,000,000 Magic Millions 2yo Classic at the Gold Coast on January 14 is the carrot for 13 youngsters vying to break their maidens in Saturday's $250,000 2yo Classic (1000m) at Ballarat.

Spirit Of Boom has three runners, including two very interesting debutants in the fillies, Malaboom and Sassy Boom.

An $80,000 purchase for Kurrinda Bloodstock, the Matthew Dale-trained Malaboom won a trial at Warwick Farm on October 18.

Sassy Boom a $155,000 Magic Millions yearling

Danny O'Brien Racing shelled out $155,000 for Sassy Boom from the Emirates Park draft at the Magic Millions.

The daughter of Spirit Of Boom is the second foal of the unraced Harbour Watch (IRE) mare Harbour Fun, a half-sister to Listed Ken Russell Classic winner Cat D'Antibes (Tale Of The Cat) and the unraced Snitzel mare Eye For Fun.

Unraced due to losing an eye as a yearling, Eye For Fun would earn fame as the dam of Golden Slipper winner Mossfun (Mossman).

Bred by Ian and Linda Duckworth of Fairview Park in partnership with Heather McKinnon and Darren Pullman, Mossfun was an $80,000 purchase by Trevor Lobb on behalf of Emirates Park at the second session of the Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Mossfun came from a family not unfamiliar to Emirates Park, who had purchased Eye For Fun's dam What Fun for $220,000 in 2008 when carrying a sister to Eye For Fun.

Besides Mossfun, Eye For Fun has another top-class performer in the Champion Singapore Sprinter Aramco, who defeated Lim's Crusier in the 2019 Lion City Cup. The son of Magic Albert had shown promise in Australia when known as Mawahibb, winning at Moonee Valley and finishing fourth on debut in the Canonbury Stakes won by Vancouver.

What Fun (Canny Lad) was a talented performer for Grahame Begg, winning at Warwick Farm and Canterbury and placing eight times in a 25-start career.

Eye For Fun is not her only stakes-producing daughter.

The metropolitan winner Allegra (Dehere) is the dam of dual Listed stakes winner Eximius (Exceed And Excel) and the Macau Derby winner Hostwin Achilles (Deep Field).

Harbour Fun and Mossfun have colts in the Emirates Park draft heading to the Gold Coast in January.

Harbour Fun has a Pride Of Dubai colt (lot 923), while Mossfun has an I Am Invincible half-brother to the very promising Waterhouse/Bott import Dajraan (Frankel) (lot 153)
