Trained by Dion Luciani and ridden by Patrick Carbery, My Bella Mae went to the post as favourite after scoring easy wins at Ascot in October and early November.

There was drama in the mounting yard from another key runner before they went out, but My Bella Mae made the quantum leap to stakes company enjoying a good run in transit and racing clear to win by nearly two lengths.

“She’s got a good brain and takes everything in, she’s a very clever horse,” said Patrick Carbery.

“She beat some good horses then, that have had a lot more experience that her.

“It was hectic pre-race, that’s for sure. But she handled herself real well.”

Retained to race by her breeders after passing in at the Perth Magic Millions, My Bella Mae is the first winner for Group III placed Mae West (NZ), a half-sister by Sir Percy (GB) to Group III winner Who Dares Wins.

My Bella Mae is the 22nd stakes-winner for Deep Field and is his seventh this season.
