Riversdale Sold Debut Winner Brings Magic Update

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday November 9

The juvenile maiden at Murray Bridge on Wednesday produced a debut winner for Pariah with victory going to talented filly Cherokee Miss, whose half-brother will be offered at the 2023 Magic Millions Yearling Sale by Riversdale.

A $90,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Richard and Chantelle Jolly from the Riversdale draft, Cherokee Miss was a short priced favourite and ran right up to expectation to score an easy length and a half win.

Cherokee Miss is the first winner for Tennessee Diamond, a half-sister to stakes-winner Instalment from the famed Tennessee family that has produced Group I winners such as Aloha, Malaguerra and Cool Aza Beel.

Cherokee Miss was a $90,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Riversdale draft.

Riversdale will offer the half-brother by Zousain to Cherokee Miss at Magic Millions as Lot 982.

Nick and Jasmine Hodges of Riversdale have been in the news this week through their purchase of Ashleigh Thoroughbreds from long-time friends Senga Bissett and Ivan Woodford-Smith.

A renowned farm that has produced Group I winners such as Captivant, Danni Martine and Bulla Borghese, Ashleigh Thoroughbreds is situated in prime Hunter Valley horse country being close to Cressfield, Robrick Lodge, Willow Park Stud and Middlebrook Valley Lodge.

Riversdale was established by Peter and Alison Hodges – Nick’s parents, and has been a family owned and operated thoroughbred stud for over 35 years.

Nick and his wife Jasmine took over the business in December 2016 and have continued to build the brand and the acquisition of Ashleigh will allow for further expansion when the sale is finalized next May.
